POINT BATTERY BACKUP SYSTEMS: EBS BBS UPS

Point Lighting produces battery backup systems in several forms and for many specialty lighting applications.
Unlike other manufacturers, our systems keep the battery off-line and fully charged at all times. That is, under normal
conditions the load is not powered through battery even when the load is DC. Depending on the application and
specific load, Point Lighting will recommend a BBS or UPS.

Battery Backup System (BBS):

Power is AC; lights are DC

  • May be option -BBS for a PHC heliport lighting system controller or for a POC obstruction lighting system controller.
  • May be purchased as a separate add-on for an existing system.
  • The BBS is connected to normal AC commercial power. Upon loss of the AC power, the BBS switches to battery power for unattended operation. The BBS output is DC at all times. The battery stays fully charged automatically under normal AC power.

Heliport Lighting Emergency Backup System (EBS):

Power is AC; lights are DC

  • In the event of an emergency commercial power outage, the EBS provides temporary backup power for the heliport lighting that is integrated into the normal lighting system without a standby generation or other external systems.
  • One PHC circuit will feed the EBS power unit. The EBS unit will provide 12V DC power to the perimeter lighting EBS circuit which will operate normally under commercial AC power and during power outage.
  • The EBS circuit will provide emergency battery power for full brightness operation to a maximum of 24 Point perimeter fixtures.
  • Upon loss of AC power, this circuit will automatically switch ON for a timed 15-minute period and this may be repeated for up to 10 such landing cycles before power is restored. The EBS must be designed into the normal AC powered lighting.

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS):

Power is AC; lights are AC

  • May be option -UPS for a PHC heliport lighting system controller or for a POC obstruction lighting system controller. Contact Point for custom review of your application.
  • May be purchased as a separate add-on for an existing system.
  • The UPS is connected to normal AC commercial power. Upon failure of the normal power, the UPS will automatically switch to its standby power source with a specified run-time. Upon restoration of power, the UPS automatically returns to steady–state.

EBS Heliport Lighting Emergency Backup System

  • In the event of a power outage, the EBS provides temporary backup heliport lighting that is integrated into the normal heliport lighting system independent of standby power generation.

BBS-60502-AC Battery Backup System

  • Powers a system of multiple DC low intensity LED red obstruction lights
  • For buildings and towers requiring hours of backup power

BBS-60500-AC Battery Backup System

  • Powers a system of multiple DC low intensity LED red obstruction lights
  • For cranes and worksites requiring up to 3 nights of backup power

BBS-60540-AC Battery Backup System

  • Powers a system of 1 or 2 flashing LED red beacons & several red side lights
  • For any site requiring up to 3 to 24 hours of backup power
